Instrument
By Margo Westmoreland Blehm
(Written when meditating and praying while looking for agates at the coast.)
Make me an instrument of Your peace
Make me an instrument of Your peace
Fill my heart with Your spirit sweet
Let me start over with Your love in me
Make me an instrument of Your peace
Use me despite myself
Don’t let me get in the way
Cover my mistakes
Make me an instrument of Your peace
I Believe
By Margo Westmoreland Blehm
(This is based on one of the my very favorite texts in the whole Bible, Ephesians 3:20. I wrote the verses to this poem once, while praying for wisdom and guidance regarding a specific situation, especially regarding the best way to communicate with this person. Later I ran across this poem and decided to turn it into a song. It’s one of my favorites.)
Give me wisdom, give me words
Let Your voice alone be heard
Let someone I greet be stirred down in their soul
Fill me with Your spirit sweet
Guide my hands and guide my feet
Draw some person that I meet and make them whole
I believe You are able
To do exceedingly
abundantly above all
I ask or imagine
I believe You are able to do exceedingly
According to Your power that works in me
Lord, I believe
Use me Lord how You see fit
Surround me with Your Spirit
More and more and more of It is what I need
Never do give up on me
Please keep writing my story
Finish growing this small seed
Lord, I believe
I believe You are able
To do exceedingly
abundantly above all
I ask or imagine
I believe You are able to do exceedingly
According to Your power that works in me
Lord, I believe

(If you live anywhere in Northern California you probably experienced the powder outages the last few falls. We sometimes didn’t have power for almost 3 days. It really makes you realize the gifts you take for granted!
But how many of us are guilty of letting the gifts and blessings in our lives make us so busy that we don’t have time for the Giver of those gifts. Maybe sometimes it’s good to be cut loose from electric power so we can find where our real power comes from.
Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit. Zachariah 4:6 jSet your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. Colossians 3:2.)
A million plans are spinning, spinning inside my head
And I can’t seem to turn it off today
A million things are calling, crying for my attention
Threatening to pull my heart away
But my heart is Yours
I love You more than these
All I have belongs to Thee
Any silver or gold
All I am or hope to be
To You I owe
Every breath that I breathe
Comes from Your hand
May I glorify Your name
With everything I am
For my heart is Yours
The blessings You have given are so many and so good
Each moment is a precious gift, it’s true
I pray that I remember You’re the Beautiful Giver
And never put the gift ahead of You
For my heart is Yours
I love You more than these
All I have belongs to Thee
Any silver or gold
All I am or hope to be
To You I owe
Every breath that I breathe
Comes from You
May I glorify Your name
With everything I do
All I have belongs to Thee
Any silver or gold
All I am or hope to be
To You I owe
Every breath that I breathe
Comes from Your hand
May I glorify Your name
With everything I am
For my heart is Yours

Lovely
By Margo Westmoreland Blehm
Written in 1996
Jesus, I adore You
You’re the Best Thing in my life
The more I learn about You
The more I realize I’ll never walk without You
But I often fall, and don’t hear You when You call my name
Lord, forgive me for failing You
My stubborn heart keeps hindering me from revealing You
But Your love’s mighty, more mighty than the darkness in my heart
You can soften and sweeten and make my heart clean
And if I rest in Your grace, keep my eyes on Your face
You’ll shine through and make a lovely thing out of me
Teach me Lord to listen, to be open to your will
Make my heart like Your heart
May I follow You
Give me a new start
I cannot, of myself, be the child of God you made me to be
Take away my selfishness and purify me
Change my heart and sanctify me
For Your love’s mighty, more mighty than the darkness in my heart
You can soften and sweeten and make my heart clean
And if I rest in Your grace, keep my eyes on Your face
You’ll shine through and make a lovely thing out of me
Create in me a clean heart
Restore unto me the joy of Your salvation
For Your love’s mighty, more mighty than the darkness in my heart
You can soften and sweeten and make my heart clean
And if I rest in Your grace, keep my eyes on Your face
You’ll shine through and make a lovely thing
You’ll shine through, and make a lovely thing of me
No War No More
Isaiah 2:3-4.
(One of my favorite scriptures! How could it not be! Soon and very soon Jesus will come back and this promise will come true. We will forever be at peace with the world and each other.)
Come, and let us go up to the mountain of God
To the house of the God of Jacob
He will teach us His ways
And we shall walk in His paths
For out of Zion shall go forth the law
And the word of the Lord from Jerusalem
He’ll judge between the nations
And rebuke many people
Chorus:
They shall beat their swords into plowshares
And their spears into pruning shears
Nation shall not lift up sword against nation
Neither shall they learn war
Neither shall they learn war
anymore
Repeat Chorus
Together

(It was one of those summers. Unrelenting heat…which was bad enough…(our town gets up to over 110 degrees in summer on a regular basis) but then in addition to that there was the added heat of dealing with family dynamics.
I am a child of an aging parent. The privilege of having your parents around into their 90th decade, is a huge blessing. But along with it comes a lot of, well, agony and angst! Transitioning from the child role, to taking on more of a parent role, and all the repercussions that come with that, is tricky ground and I keep saying they need support groups for this phase of life!
That summer was one of the absolute hardest times for me. My aging parent had decided they didn’t require my help, didn’t want to give up control over parts of their life, however much it was needed. I had to start managing that ‘ship’ from afar, trying to do damage control and steer things remotely, to try to protect this parent as they made poor decisions. It was one of the most stressful times in my whole life.
Right in the middle of all this, I had a dream. I dreamed I was walking along and came upon a music festival. There was a band playing and as I walked past I caught the words to the chorus: “We’ll get through this together, together Margo!” Now if you have a name like mine, you can never find a keychain with your name, much less a song. In my dream I looked at the lead singer and thought, he’s singing to ME! When I awoke I was blown away. Either it was my brain writing a song for me in my sleep, or it was God, encouraging me through those hard times. I chose to go with the latter. Remembering the words and tune of the chorus, I added two verses and it ended up being one of my favorite songs. How could it not be?! The only song in the entire world with my name in it.
But, it didn’t really make sense to people when I sang it that way, as if i was singing to myself. So I re-worded the song and here is the new version.)
You were there when we were just a thought
And long before that, You were anticipating
The day when You’d create the world
You were there when we took our first steps
And it wasn’t long, we were running, and falling
You were there to lift us up through each trial and milestone
Saying, we’ll get through this together, together we will
We’ll get through this together
Together
You’ve been there for us through every storm
Thru every black cloud, You have promised You’ll hold us
Why do we ever doubt the letter You wrote us
We must remember that You made our hearts to be just like Yours
and we’re growing, we’re growing
But through the growing pains
We are never alone
No, we’ll get through this together, together we will
Yes we’ll get through this together
Together
Together
Together
Together
Blue
By Margo Westmoreland Blehm
Written in 1997
I have no reason to be blue
You’ve given your promise to always be true
Your eye is on every detail
You prove every day that Your love never fails
And I love You, teach me to trust
Teach me to rest in Your care
Take away my anxieties
And give me the faith not to fear
My blues always fade at the thought of You
For your love is truer
Your love is truer than blue
Blue
‘Be anxious for nothing’, You said
‘Rejoice in the Lord every moment instead
Be not dismayed, I am your God
In Me all things work together for good’
‘And I love you, in Me you can trust
Let go and rest in My care
Give me all your anxieties
And I’ll give you the faith not to fear’
My blues always fade at the thought of You
For your love is truer
Your love is truer than blue

At Your Right Hand
(Stan Ramley asked me to turn Psalm 121 into a song. This is what I came up with.)
I will lift up my eyes to the hills
From whence comes my help?
My help comes from the Lord
Who made heaven and earth
He will not allow your foot to be moved
He who keeps you will not slumber
Behold, He who keeps Israel
Shall neither slumber nor sleep
Shall neither slumber nor sleep
The Lord is your keeper
The Lord is your shade at your right hand
The sun shall not strike you, strike you by day
Nor the moon by night
Nor the moon by night
The Lord shall preserve you
from all evil
He shall preserve you
Preserve your soul
The Lord shall preserve your going out
And your coming in
From this time forth, and even forevermore
and even forevermore
The Lord is your keeper
The Lord is your shade at your right hand
The sun shall not strike you, strike you by day
The Lord is your keeper
The Lord is your shade at your right hand
The sun shall not strike you, strike you by day
Nor the moon by night
Nor the moon by night
One
By Margo Westmoreland Blehm
Ephesians 4:4-7
To every one of us is given grace
According to the gift of Christ
For the perfecting of the saints
For edifying the body of Christ
Till we are one
Chorus:
There’s one body
And one Spirit
One hope, one Lord and one faith
One baptism
One God and Father of all
Who is above all, and through all and in you all
Till we all come into unity
One
So we being many, are one body
Under one head, One body in Christ
Our gifts differ from one another
Fitted together by the grace of Christ
Till we are one
Repeat Chorus x 2

Scripture Song Bible Study on speaking with Grace.
(I often struggle with knowing the right words to say. I wrote this song because I needed to keep God’s promises regarding Spirit filled words,
close to my heart.
“Don’t waste time trying to make your mark upon this world, but let God paint His picture of love upon your heart. God can give us words, gripping – more than a Television drama. God will touch our lips. God will fill you with words you should say. He’ll take your words and translate them into what people will understand. “ -Dr. Ray Allen

Just Fine
By Margo Westmoreland Blehm
Based on Revelation 3:14-19
Until You broke through, I was fine
Pretty good compared to most
I thought that I was on Your Road
Until I saw You, I was fine
Thought that I was following
close behind
But suddenly, I saw Your Light for the very first time
I hadn’t seen that I was wretched
I hadn’t seen that I was poor
I hadn’t seen that I was blind and naked
Miserably torn
I wasn’t searching for your fountain
I wasn’t looking for your gold
Never sought after your eyesalve
Or for your precious Robe
I was fine, just fine, thank you
Chief of sinners, in a church pew
All full of self and full of me
No wonder I could not see
So many fears, so untrusting
Every insult tortured me
And took away my peace
Now I realize my sin was simply, simply unbelief
I didn’t know I was this wretched
I didn’t know I was this poor
I didn’t know I was this blind and naked
Miserably torn
Half-heartedly searched for your fountain
Half-heartedly looked for your gold
I thought I had your eyesalve
I thought I had Your Robe
I was fine, just fine, thank you
I knew I’d only given pieces of my patchwork heart
At times I’d agonize with You to take the other parts
But often coasting and asleep, often wandering from Your path
Wondering why I’d fall so fast and hard when any trial blew past
But then You came through with your sweet presence
You promised to make me well to make me whole
In Your precious blood and robe you covered me
And gave me all Your gold
I didn’t see I was this wretched
I didn’t see I was this poor
I didn’t see i was this blind and naked
Miserably torn
But now you’ve given me your fountain
You’ve given me your gold
You’ve given me your eyesalve
You’ve given me Your Robe
I’ll be fine, in You, thank You
Thank You
Thank You
The Plan
By Margo Westmoreland Blehm
Maybe someday I’ll understand
Maybe it will be clear someday
How someone with so much to lose
Could risk giving His life away
He came to earth from Paradise
Full of angels who praised Him with song
All heaven wept, seeing Him leave was hard to bear
But you see, this was the plan all along
He came down to this earth alone
A vulnerable tiny babe
King of Heaven so far from home
In a rough world that He came to save
God, one of us, for forever
We’re more blessed than if we’d never sinned
He drew us nearer than all unfallen beings
But you see, you have to invite Him in
His name was Jesus…He understood
all that mankind was going through
Our need for a savior was the reason He came
It was clear what He had to do
He walked the narrow path to the garden
Praying for grace to meet the trial to come
The angels wished to take Him home right then and there
But you see the battle was not yet won
Your name and mine was on His mind
As the cross bent Him down on that road
His love for me is what carried Him through
As He carried my sin with the load
He took my place on that hillside
On a cross meant for me when it was made
All heaven rejoiced, He died and rose and bought back His own
So you see, the price for heaven’s been paid
Let It Pour
By Margo Westmoreland Blehm
(Thoughts on a trip to Yellowstone watching storm clouds gather over the plains….
*The latter rain we pray for only comes through storms*)
The clouds are black and heavy, heavy laden
The skies are growing darker with each hour
The winds are blowing harder than I’ve ever heard
They’re bringing more than showers
It isn’t fear I feel, it’s expectation
I am not running or trying to get away
My face turned up, feeling drops of promise
Twirling circles in the spray
But let it pour Your rain on me
Pour Your cleansing waves
Melt and soften with Your healing streams
A fairer day is coming but for now
Let it pour
Feel Grace like rain
As Heaven’s gates pour down blessings
Let The Spirit, let The Word cleanse you deeply, gently
Don’t be afraid, don’t be alarmed
A tempest brings the rains that we pray for
Your Father’s hand will shield you through the raging storm
So let it pour that rain
Pour those cleansing waves
Melt and soften with those healing streams
A fairer day is coming but for now…let it pour
Oceans of love, drown me in torrents of mercy
Seven thunders, cry out the end of the story
Lightening flash, Let me see more clearly
More clearly
Pour Your rain on me
Pour Your cleansing waves
Melt and soften with Your healing streams
A fairer day is coming but for now…Let it pour
Tapestry Weaver
By Margo Westmoreland’ Blehm
(This is a song I wrote about a time in my life when I thought God was leading me to a mountaintop…I thought a lifelong dream of mine was finally coming true …but when all was said and done this dream did not come true…and I ended up in a deep and dark valley instead. But I’m learning that no matter what, I can trust Him.)
Another door is closing in the room
Another path barred, I can’t get through
Another dream I thought You gave me, crumpled to the floor, help me Lord
How in the world can I carry on
When all I see are shadows, deep and long
Oh Tapestry Weaver, only You can see
the tapestry You’re weaving would not be as sweet
If each door You led me through
Was a door that I would choose to walk through
The shadows are required as well as the light
The rainbow needs the cloud as much as the sun so bright
Joy and pain color the precious thread that You are weaving through Your loom
And I’ll finally see, when it’s all through
It’s a picture of You
Another day it will be crystal clear
Another soul, saved, through your every tear
And another thing, that dream that died is precious in God‘s sight, with you He cried
Hope now shines brighter than when you stood on the sun
The shadows, all the painful shadows, will be glorious when this is done
Oh Tapestry Weaver help us see and believe
the tapestry You’re weaving would not be complete
If each door You led us through
Was a door that we would choose to walk through
And when all is said and done, we will be able to say
We wouldn’t change a thing, not a single detail
That bloodstained tapestry will be so glorious on that Day
We’ll finally see it was exactly what it took to bring us home
Transforming into glory all the devil meant for harm
We’ll see the heartbreaking beauty of the Weaver’s wounded hands on that Morning
But, another thing, that dream you had that died
Is waiting for you there on the other side
It’s waiting for you there on the other side
Oh Tapestry Weaver
Tapestry Weaver
Light shines more brilliantly when piercing the shade
The shadows make more beautiful the light of Your face
This precious tapestry with which You cradled the whole world
We’ll finally see, when it’s all through
Yes we’ll see, when it’s through
It’s a picture of You
Thank You
By Margo Westmoreland Blehm
Thank you Lord, thank you for the light
And thank you Lord for coming down to show us
Your power is beautiful and you rule with might
So it’s incredible that you still should love us
How can we show You we adore You
For your amazing sacrifice
We will show you that we love you
By reaching out for life
Thank You Lord, thank You for your grace
And thank you Lord for coming down to save us
Your love is beautiful, we long to see your face
It’s so incredible you soon will come to take us
How can we show You we adore You
For your amazing sacrifice
We will show you that we love you
By reaching out for life
How can we show You we adore You
For your amazing sacrifice
We will show you that we love you
By reaching out for life
Thank you
The 7th Day
By Margo Westmoreland Blehm
Listen to the winds blow as the storm clouds are starting to gather
They’re hiding the sun but That Rainbow promises comfort
The darkening sky carries hope of That new Day
just a few hours til Sabbath
Welcome His Spirit and open your heart up to God’s love
The world and it’s pleasures fade away as you turn to Jesus
His arms will hold you through this night til that Morning
just a few hours til that Sabbath
Lord we praise your holy name for the seventh day
Yes we praise your awesome name for the 7th day
Lord we long for that day when we’ll see your face
A thousand year Sabbath to sing your praise
Bask in His promise, rest at last, from earth’s tribulation
Sweet communion and restoration with your God Who is Lord of creation
The Word that breathed out stars will recreate our hearts
Let us rejoice for the sabbath
Lord we praise your holy name for the seventh day
Yes we praise your awesome name for the 7th day
Lord we long for that day when we’ll see your face
A thousand year Sabbath to sing your praise
And it shall come to pass
That from one New Moon to another,
And from one Sabbath to another,
All flesh shall come to worship
And we praise Your holy name
For these precious hours You made
Lord we praise your holy name for the Sabbath for the seventh day
Yes we praise your awesome name for the seventh day
Lord, you fill up our souls and we love you so
This day you have made is so beautiful
